Emmitt Williams claims Dominican Rep. LNB weekly honour

American Emmitt Williams (198-F-1998, agency: BMS Sport Agency) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Metros de Santiago and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 26-year old forward had the game-high 23 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Metros in his team's victory, helping them to beat Leones (#8, 2-10) 99-88. Metros is placed at 3rd position in Dominican Rep. LNB. Metros is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-7 record. In the team's last game Williams had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Metros, through which he has constantly improved. Louisiana State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Williams is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.7ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.6rpg) and averages solid 69.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American Luis Martinez (198-SF-1984) of Soles de Santo Domingo. Martinez is one of the most experienced players at Soles and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.0ppg (#7). He also registered 6.2 boards per game. William Paterson University alumni Martinez played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was another Metros' star - Eloy Vargas (211-C-1988, agency: BIG). Vargas scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Metros de Santiago, helping his team with a 92-83 win against #1 ranked Reales in a game of the week. Metros needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 7 lost games. Vargas has a very solid season. In 4 games in Dominican Republic he scored 17.5ppg.
